Project: Diptych of Opposites

The goal for this project is to create two carved linoleum matrices that are opposites - one image rendered in positive and the other in negative. Students are also required to come up with ideas, subjects, and contexts that are opposite or in contrast. By treating the two linoleum matrices as a diptych, students work through the image-making process by both contrasting and balancing mark-making, compositions, ideas, and content.
