I'm Fuko Ito, a printmaker/artist currently working in Lawrence, KS.

Thank you for coming!

Fuko Ito was born and raised in Kobe, Japan where she grew up attending a British Christian elementary school and a Canadian International School. She moved to the US to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to receive her BFA and is currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Kansas Visual Arts Department.

Her cross-cultural upbringing informs her work in which she plays with dualities oftentimes associated with cross-cultural experiences — questioning the sense of belonging or not belonging, becoming and unfolding, and how identity can be artificial and/or real.

She will be attending the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory Residency in Kawaguchiko, Japan during the summer of 2017 to further explore ideas of negotiating confusing and tricky experiences deriving from her personal life.
